This is further reinforced by the always critical Matt Biolos (Mayhem), who once stated: “He is, technically, the best shaper in the world.”
This deep understanding of all the complex facets of surfboard manufacturing, combined with a constant flow of innovation, is reflected in his work. Gabriel Medina’s flawless victory scoring two perfect 10s in the final of the King of the Groms in 2009 was a spotlight on his talent. Winning the WSL World Championship in 2014 placed him at center stage, confirming what many had already suspected: Johnny Cabianca is a master shaper.
