Measurement Conversion Chart: Inches x Decimals

Surfboards are usually measured using the American system, in feet and inches. Example: 6'1" (6 feet and 1 inch in length) x 19 1/4" (19 inches and 1/4 in width) x 2 1/2" (2 inches and 1/2 in thickness).

With the use of 3D shaping machines, most shapers started using decimal measurements instead of fractions, and this is becoming a worldwide standard. It is also better for surfers, as it makes it easier to identify which measurement is larger or smaller.

To convert measurements in inches to decimals, you basically calculate the fraction. Example: 2 1/4" >> 1/4 (1 divided by 4) = 0.25. To make things easier, below is the complete conversion chart with all the fractional measurements commonly used in surfboards.
