About the board:
James initially designed this board for Jay Davies to handle the heavy water of the outer reefs in West Oz. Since then, this board has gone through extensive R&D during the epic 2020 East Coast Australian winter and in Hawaii.
We designed this board with maximum attention to detail. A 9mm cedar wood stringer and a double leash plug give the rider total confidence in challenging conditions.
OUTLINE
The Faded 2.0 Gun outline is built for speed. The nose carries enough area to provide incredible paddle power. This is enhanced by a beaked nose, retaining more foam under the chest through to the tip. From the midpoint down, the pin tail is refined in combination with the deck and bottom rocker to create insane hold—exactly what this board demands.
ROCKER
The board features a moderate entry rocker and a smooth, medium tail rocker. These complement the ‘Vee Double Concave’ bottom contour. The rocker plays a key role in generating paddle speed when surfing big waves, where water moves much faster and quick acceleration in just a few strokes is essential.
BOTTOM CONTOURS
The ‘Vee Double Concave’ runs through the entire bottom (nose to tail), providing full traction on the wave face. This board is built to hold in serious conditions.
RAILS
Full rails in the upper third to increase paddle power, flattening through the middle, then tapering into the lower third to maximize hold.
