With a focus on user-friendly performance and everyday conditions, James blended all the favorite features of the original board fast and forgiving with a few updated refinements. The result is an essential daily driver that connects all the dots, from beach break junk to long point breaks (and everything in between). This board will bring you the stoke!
The outline has been slightly pulled in at the nose and tail (around the 12” mark, reducing the hips and shoulders) compared to the original Churro, giving the Churro 2 a smoother, less catchy feel. The wide point sits relatively neutral at the center of the board, creating a massive sweet spot, flowing into a round square tail with enough width to carry speed through slower sections.
The rocker is very forgiving, much like the original. A moderate entry, flatter mid-section, and moderate exit through the tail provide excellent down-the-line speed. A clean single concave transitioning into a very subtle double concave through the fins keeps this board extremely user-friendly in all conditions.
Through the Project Black R&D stages, we found that a neutral fin template (not too upright and not too raked) delivers the ideal balance of speed, flow, and responsiveness for this model. In FCS II, the Performer template works well, and in Futures, the F6 template is a great match just select the appropriate size.
